She was born in Wilkes Barre, PA on November 14, 1920, a daughter of the late James and Goldie Bartholomew Harty. Dorothy married Harry Greer on July 5, 1941 in Alexandria, VA. He preceded her in death on July 20, 1967. She married David Bland in Greenville, NC and he preceded her in death on January 8, 1998.
Dorothy had been employed in Virginia with the Drug Fair Warehouse. After the death of her second husband, she moved to Oshkosh to be near her daughter. She was a lifetime member of the Salvation Army.
Survivors include one son, Raymond Greer, Alexandria, VA; three daughters, Wendy (Milton) Schafer, Oshkosh, Carol (Don) Bruton, Edgewood, FL, Charlotte (Ron) Moyer, Alexandria, VA; three brothers, James (Bertha) Harty, Marion, OH, Raymond (Jane) Harty, Greenwood, IN, Clifford (Barbara) Harty, Cleveland, OH; two sisters, Joan Harty, St. Louis, MO, Annetta (Ray) Horta, Costa Mesa, CA; eight grandchildren, Donna, Steven, Brian, David, Angie, Tammy, Jennifer, Shawn; 10 great grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Shirley Greer, Alexandria, VA, Kay Greer, Colonial Beach, VA and two sisters-in-law, Rose Harty, Marion, OH and Marilyn Harty, Marion, OH. She was preceded in death by two sons, Harry Greer Jr., Jerry Greer; one daughter, Connie Staples; one grandson Jerry Lynn Greer and two brothers, Roland and Bob Harty.
Memorial services will be held at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home- Eastside on Friday February 12, 2010 at 6:00 PM with Rev Robert Rosenberg officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 5:00 PM to the time of the memorial service.
