| Name: | Imogene "Moe" Christensen, 88 | | Died: | Monday, July 12, 2010, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin | | Imogene "Moe" Christensen passed away on July 12, 2010 at Oakwood Manor in Oshkosh, WI. Moe was born November 28, 1921 to Edith (Neuman) and Hugo Christensen in Sturgeon Bay, WI. She graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School in 1939. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Moe was a lifelong learner, working as a newspaper journalist and physical education teacher around the country before returning to school to earn a graduate degree in counseling. She worked for many years as a guidance counselor at Goodrich High School in Fond du Lac, WI before retiring in 1984. Moe then retired to her roots, enjoying Door County to the fullest, whether photographing wildflowers, hiking Peninsula Park or picnicking at Cave Point.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Kris Lewis, Kathy Sorenson, Suzy Aldridge, Cheri Maples, Mark Maples, and Steve Maples; and six grandnieces and nephews, Maddie Lewis, Jamie Maples, Micah Maples, Kelsey Maples, Kristen Maples, and Cory Maples. Moe is preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Vera Parsons and Betsy Maples.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 23, 2010 at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home (Westside) at 6:00 PM with the Rev. Carol DiBiasio-Snyder officiating. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Friday from 5:00 to 6:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice Memorial Fund.
The nieces and nephews wish to express their deep gratitude to Mark Maples, who took such good care of Moe especially in her last years, as well as to the staffs of Oakwood Manor in Oshkosh and Pinecrest in Sturgeon Bay. Moe was a wonderful role model for her nieces and nephews, and will be missed and remembered.
