Gary M. Footit

Gary M. Footit, age 58 of Oshkosh, passed away after an unforgiving battle with cancer on Sunday, December 25, 2022. He was born on January 27, 1964 to the late Gaylord and Barbara (Buehring) Footit in Oshkosh. Gary married Kathryn Church of Sturgeon Bay on October 20, 2000 and had one daughter, Aimee (18).

First, Gary was a super husband and dad. He was an amazing cook, and managed the family’s home, yard, pets, and autos with great skill. Gary worked as a diesel tech at Quality Truck Care Center for over 25 years. He loved NASCAR, especially Kulwicki and Kenseth. He was a big sports fan, and enjoyed crime television shows and country music.

Gary is survived by his wife, Kathryn Footit; daughter, Aimee (significant other, Cole) Footit; his sister Lori Footit; nephew Travis Footit and uncle Ron Buehring; mother-in-law, Donna Jean Church; brother-in-law, Matthew (Dawn) Church; niece Melissa Church and her boys; aunt Judy and uncles Larry, Jeff, Rick and Butch. He will certainly be missed by his “livestock” Astro, Molly and Schatzie.

In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Vernon Church, and his aunt Marianne Buehring.

Per Gary’s wishes, cremation will take place, and a graveside service will be held at Ellenwood Cemetery in spring.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.

The Footit family would like to thank their employers, and the providers and staff of Aurora Medical Center-Oshkosh and Home Health for the care and compassion provided to Gary throughout this difficult journey.
