James Earl Carroll

James E. Carroll, of Madison, formerly of Oshkosh and Marshfield, died at his home in Madison on Sunday, November 6, 2005. James was born on June 6, 1918 in Milwaukee the son of Edwin and Anna (Won Drass) Carroll. He married Lorraine Martin on January 15, 1949 in Oshkosh. Lorraine preceded him in death on November 5, 2001.Mr. Carroll was a World War II Army veteran serving in the South Pacific at Guadalcanal and Luzon. He was a 1951 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. James was an accountant working at Thomas Electric of Marshfield and then the Wisconsin Department of Human Services in Madison until his retirement in 1983. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing, hunting, hiking, bingo, cards and watching basketball on TV.Survivors include one son, Edward (April) Carroll of Middleton; three daughters, Elizabeth Carroll of Madison, Marlene (William) Harley of Mt. Horeb, Jennifer Carroll of Portland, OR; three grandchildren, Theresa Carroll, Robert and Rachel Auerbach; one sister-in-law, Ruth (Bud) Freeman of Ripon; and many nieces and nephews.James was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one daughter, Anita Carroll; one sister, Sister Agnes Ann Laura Carroll; two brothers, John and Joseph Carroll.The funeral service will be on Thursday, November 10, 2005 at 1:00 PM in Oshkosh at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home- Westside with Rev. Martin Carr officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from Noon to the time of service. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Park Oshkosh, WI.
