Lila L. (Becker) Johnston, age 92, passed away at Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh, on Monday, May 14, 2018. She was born to the late Edward and Pauline (Warmbier) Becker in Omro, Wisconsin on May 29, 1925. She met and married the love of her life Jesse R. Johnston on July 19, 1945 in Oshkosh. They were married for 67 years; long-time members of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Oshkosh. Lila worked for many years at Miles Kimball and with her husband was co-owner of the Saddle and Leather Shop in Oshkosh for 12 years. They were blessed with four daughters: Sharon, Susan, Debra and Sandra. She loved learning and was a champion of higher education. She encouraged her daughters to achieve college degrees and they all did. She loved taking care of her family in addition to enjoying her time at the Saddle and Leather Shop. Lila will be remembered for her love of God, family, and country. She will be deeply missed.
Lila is survived by her daughters: Sharon Cooper (Ron), Susan Johnston, Debra Sommerfeldt (Robert) and Dr. Sandra Johnston, PhD (Paul). She is also survived by eight grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; sister, Esther Becker-Simplot (Jack); brother, Phillip Becker (Jeanette); and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Jesse Johnston, parents, three sisters and one brother.
Visitation will be at Lake View Memorial Park, 2786 Algoma Blvd, Oshkosh, on Friday, May 18, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jennifer Czarnota officiating. Burial will follow in Lake View Memorial Park, Oshkosh.
