Marvin B. Lind passed away June 26, 2006, at his home surrounded by his family, after a yearlong battle with cancer. He was born December 18, 1941 in Oshkosh, the son of Herbert and Ida (Kentopp) Lind. On April 18, 1964 he married Linda Lucille Schmidt, at First English Lutheran Church in Oshkosh. Marvin attended Oshkosh Schools and served his country in the Marine Corps. He was employed at Universal Foundry and retired after more than 30 years working for the Wisconsin Southern Railroad (formally the Milwaukee Road). After retirement he worked part time for his friend Tom Blajeski at Blajeski Harwood. He was a member of First English Lutheran Church; and the Island View Retriever Club, where he would spend spare time training his dog Max. He enjoyed working and training his dog with fellow club member and friend, Dave Juedes. Marvin was an avid duck hunter, and loved spending time with his family. His self taught talent for woodworking, supplied his family and friends with pieces of furniture, that will be treasured and passed on to future generations.He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Linda; two sons William (Renae) Lind, of Brandon; and Steven (Leslie) Lind, of Oshkosh; one daughter, Michelle (David) Roth, of Oshkosh; five grandchildren, Anna and Mason Lind; Kalynn, Aaron, and Megan Roth; one brother Kenneth Lind; two sisters, Sharon (Richard) Heling, and Marlene Campbell; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Joyce and Kenneth Thill; Donna and Jerry Hawley; Jeanette Hager; Lowell Hager; Duane Schmidt; Charles and Raedean Schmidt; Dan and Cindy Schmidt; Fred and Carol Schmidt; mother-in-law Dorothy Schmidt; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and parents; three brothers, William, Louis, and James Lind; one sister Barbara Lee; and father-in-law Fred Schmidt Sr.Funeral services will be held at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home- Westside on Thursday, June 29, 2006 at 6:00 PM with Rev. Martin Ruge officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 2:00 PM until the time of service. Interment will be at Lake View Memorial Park, with military honors. A memorial has been established.The family wishes to thank Dr. Dr. Blaha, Dr. Dar, their caring staff, Nell from Hospice and everyone at Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh, who touched his life during this past year.
