Bob was born to Adolph and Viola Eulrich Stauffer, May 23, 1924. He married Shirley Wrasse on August 23, 1947.Bob is survived by his son Robert E. Stauffer, Jr., Bob's wife Karen, daughter-in-law Debralee Stauffer of Littleton, CO; his three grandchildren, Tina (Tony) Barzano, Jason (Angie) Jaes, and Ryan Scott Stauffer; and great-grandchildren Alexander Schoenick and Rebecca Jaes. Other survivors include his sisters Jane Gutknecht and Carol Hanson, brother Russel (Carolyn) Stauffer, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Stauffer and his son Scott Stauffer.Bob enlisted in the United States Army Air Force in 1943, was discharged from the Air Force in 1946 (1st Lt), and returned to Northwestern University to complete his BA in accounting in 1948, passing the CPA exam in both Wisconsin and Illinois. Beginning in 1949, Bob and Shirley worked together in Oshkosh at his CPA firm, Robert E. Stauffer & Co, until retiring from accounting in 1989. Bob served on the board of the Wisconsin Institute of Certified Public Accountants, was the President of the NE WI Chapter, and was also President of the WICPA State Education Foundation.For forty years Bob was involved with owning business in Oshkosh which included a feed store and mill, a toy store, a car rental and limousine service, a gas station, and a children's clothing mail order catalog. Bob was a stockholder of SBF Corp/Wald Wire Corp., and he was the current Chairman of the Board at his death. He also continued as the accountant for his businesses including School Stationers Corp. and Westhaven Golf Club.Bob and various partners were involved in several land developments around the city of Oshkosh. The Fintan Flanagan family and the Stauffer family developed the 500 acre tract of land west of Hwy 41. The development included a housing subdivision called Westhaven and an 18 hole golf course which the Stauffer family continues to operate.In 1956, Bob was elected City Councilman for six years and served as Council President (Mayor) for the last 3 years of his service on the Council. Over the years Bob has been president of many civic organizations including: Chamber of Commerce, founding member of Chamco (Oshkosh Industrial Development), Oshkosh United Way, Lions Club, and the Republican Party of Winnebago County. For many years, Bob was the Judge's Auditor for the Miss Oshkosh and Miss Wisconsin Pageants.Bob joined Emmanuel United Church of Christ after marrying Shirley and served for many years as Treasurer and as an usher. Bob and Shirley worshipped at Emmanuel for over 60 years.Bob and Shirley also enjoyed travel, especially with their young sons through National Parks in the United States, and later on they enjoyed trips throughout the world.Funeral services will be held at Emmanuel United Church of Christ, 1306 Michigan St., on Friday, August 9, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Andi Wolf officiating Family and friends may visit at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. to the time of the service.There will be a lunch served following the service in the church Fellowship Hall. Interment will be at Peace Lutheran Cemetery, at a later date. Bob requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials that are undesignated will be donated to the Emmanuel UCC Food Pantry.
