Adeline Emily Berg

July 7, 1921 — June 25, 2021

Adeline E. Berg, age 99, passed away peacefully praying the rosary on Friday, June 25, 2021, at Parkview Health Center in Oshkosh. She was born in the town of Angelica, WI on July 7, 1921, to the late Dominic “Dan” and Anna (Polczynski) Hodkiewicz. Adeline married Loyal Berg on November 7, 1941, he preceded her in death a few months before their 50th wedding anniversary on May 13, 1991.

Adeline was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She will always be remembered for her phenomenal cooking and baking, especially her raspberry pie, she never needed a recipe. Adeline was an avid gardener and was especially fond of tulips and roses. She was a meticulous homemaker, and her focus was always on faith and family. Her children and grandchildren were her everything and she even spent time playing poker with the grandchildren. Adeline was a devout Catholic and volunteered for her church, St. Peter’s - Most Blessed Sacrament, for over 25 years, and was a garden volunteer for the Paine Art Center. Adeline’s sweet and spunky personality will be sorely missed.

Adeline is survived by her children: Loyal (Cheri) Berg, Joan (Mike) Ulrich, John (Patty) Berg, Ann (Mike) Stojsavljevic; siblings: Leonard (Evelyn) Hodkiewicz, John (Pat) Hodkiewicz, Grace (Bob) Kanugh; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Carrie Berg; and many nieces and nephews. She was further preceded in death by her son Jim on May 7, 2021; three infant children; brothers: Norbert, Norman, Dominic, and Ludwig “Ben” Hodkiewicz; sisters: Marcella and Genevieve Hodkiewicz, Florence Mulloy; her in-laws and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Adeline will take place on her 100th birthday, at 11:00 am on Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at St. Peter’s - Most Blessed Sacrament, 435 High Ave, Oshkosh with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating. Visitation will take place on Wednesday at the church from 9:30 am until the time of the service. Entombment will immediately follow the service at Lake View Memorial Park.

The family would like to thank all the Parkview Health Center staff, from the cleaning crew who made everything look immaculate to the nurses, CNAs, aides and care givers, activities staff, and especially Jan Anderson—there’s a special place in heaven for these dedicated and compassionate people. They would also like to give a special thank you to Heartland Hospice for their care and compassion and to Reimer Jewelers for the countless times they were able to repair Adeline’s rosaries.

Any memorials can be directed to Most Blessed Sacrament Parish.
