Agnes (Hemminghaus) Potratz, 92, of Oshkosh passed away after a short illness on Saturday, October 12, 2024. Agnes was born in Van Dyne on October 31, 1931 to the late Oscar and Neoma (Abraham) Hemminghaus.
Agnes graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1949. She was a farmer’s wife, a homemaker, and worked at Miles Kimball.
She was joined in marriage on July 3, 1954 to Leo Potratz, who predeceased her in 2016. Their marriage was blessed with seven children:
Daniel (Sue), Doug, Lori (Dawn), Jeff (Kelly), Jon (Lori), Mark, and Matt (Jessica).
She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jamie (Aaron) Dillman, Joshua (Katie) Potratz, Jeremy Potratz, Justin (Nicole) Potratz, Andrew (Jade) Potratz, Allison (Brian) Krug, Michael Potratz, Brandon (MacCahla Wilson) Potratz, Nicholas Potratz, Hallie Potratz, Kyle (Carolyn) Diley, Amanda (Aaron) Diley, Dalton and Evan Ronski, and her great-grandchildren: Alyssa and Colton Potratz, Aubree Dillman, Peyton and Liam Potratz, Miya Lang, and baby girl Krug due in February. She is also survived by her nieces: Sandy (Steve) Last and Marian Hemminghaus; in-laws: David & Lois Potratz, Shirley Potratz, and many nieces and nephews.
Agnes was preceded in death by her husband, Leo; her parents, Oscar and Neoma Hemminghaus; grandchild, Brandi Potratz; her brother and sister-in-law, Chuck and Mary Hemminghaus; nephew, Russ Hemminghaus; in-laws Ernst and Ella Potratz, Valeria Nitz, Rev. Roland Belanger, Chet Nitz, and Ronald Potratz.
Agnes most cherished her time with her family – having family home at holidays and various get-togethers. Her family was her world. She also enjoyed spending time with life-long friends.
Agnes was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Nekimi.
A funeral service will be held for Agnes at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Nekimi, 491 Old Oregon Rd, Oshkosh, WI 54902. Visitation will be held at the church at 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will be held at St. John’s Cemetery – Black Wolf following the service. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established.
