Alma Louise Dancer, age 78, died on Thursday, October 10th, 2024, at Azura Memory Care of Oshkosh. Alma was born on February 10th, 1946, daughter of the late Martin and Mildred (Mueller) Anderson. She grew up and attended high school in Stoughton, WI. Alma graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. She resided in England, then settled in Saint Paul, MN, where she spent many years working for Hamline University as the Post Office Manager. In her final years, Alma lived in Azura Memory Care, where she was cared for with warmth and compassion.
Alma loved creating pottery, reveling in the beauty of nature, and spending time with family and friends. She loved animals of any kind. Alma had an amazing sense of humor and an unforgettable, infectious laugh.
Alma was born 90% visually impaired and saw no color. Despite this, she loved all things artistic and combined the best colors of glaze in her pottery. While Alma’s visual impairment caused many struggles, she came to peace with the way in which she saw the world. Of her visual impairment, Alma journaled, Oddly, it is my lack of vision that I am most comfortable with, most of the time. I have become more accepting of my limitations and more grateful of its gifts, like the depth of understanding, the ability to perceive rather than to see the tangible and intangible, and the gifts of compassion and forgiveness.
Alma is survived by her loving cousins, and by her network of loving friends.
Alma was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Patricia K. (Lee) Ostruszka.
