Alwin C. Chapin

Alwin C. Chapin 93, of Oshkosh, died on Thursday, February 3, 2011 at Bethel Home. He was born on March 13, 1917 in Osakis, MN a son of the late Joseph and Merry G. (Jacklin) Chapin. In 1937 he married Emma Crapeau in Bear Creek, WI. She preceded him in death August 22, 1963. Alwin then married Dorothy Hafemeister in 1969 in Marion, WI. She preceded him in death on October 2, 2004. Alwin had been employed as a nursing assistant at Parkview for many years and prior to that had owned and operated the Chapin Roofing & Siding Company with his brothers. Survivors include sons, Jerome (Karen), Gregory (Sandra) and Brent (Kathleen); brothers, James (Violet), Sheldon (Shirley); sisters, Thelma Reynolds, Mildred Brown, Laurel Schroeder, Shirley Snell; grandchildren, Scott (Cheryl) Chapin, Chad (Ginny) Chapin, Amy (Brien) Erickson, Jeremy (Rebecca) Chapin, Hope (Rory) Clark, Michael (Belinda) Mitchell, Mark (Debra) Mitchell, Chris Mitchell, Claudette (Ken) Lubinski, Brett (Feli) Mitchell, Dawn (Jerry) Scholl, Beth (Dan) Fox; great grandchildren, Tony (Angel) Chapin, Jacob Chapin, Elizabeth Chapin, Douglas Chapin, Amanda Chapin, Jessica Chapin, Yavonne Chapin, John Erickson, Arron Erickson, Michael Erickson, Austin Clark, Autumn Clark, Brian Mitchell, Jason Mitchell, Nathan Mitchell, Krista Mitchell, Brady Mitchell, Brandon Mitchell, Meghan Pierce, Tyler Scholl, Alex Scholl, Ryan Scholl, Emma Fox, Peyton Fox, Jack Fox; numerous great great grandchildren other relatives and friends. Alwin was preceded in death by his daughters, Hope Enright, Janice Reynolds; eight brothers, two sisters, and grandchildren, Kim Chapin and Paul and Paula Enright. Funeral services for Alwin will be held on Monday, February 7, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St Andrews Lutheran Church (1100 E. Murdock Ave - Oshkosh) with the Rev. Karen Jewell officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to the time of service. A memorial is being established. Interment will be at Lake View Memorial Park. The family wishes to send a heartfelt thank you to the Special Care Unit at Bethel Home.
