Arland "Arlie" Howard Roberts, age 83, passed away on Sunday September 5th, 2021, at Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh from COVID-19. He was born on January 7th 1938 in the town of Nekimi to William and Burnett (Gillen) Roberts. Arlie married Roane (Nitz) Roberts on June 24th 1961 at Grace Lutheran Church in Pickett, WI.
He attended Red School in the town of Nekimi. He worked on the family farm until adulthood and then started his own farm in Ring, WI. Arlie hauled milk for E. German for many years while farming. Later in life, he worked for V. Jay Potratz Trucking in Omro, WI until retirement.
He enjoyed driving all over the countryside and would always take the back roads to get there. He would often visit family and friends and take them for a drive too. He liked to attend tractor pulls, farming events, and especially enjoyed going out to eat. If you were ever with him, you never went hungry! Throughout his life he went by nicknames Sam and Green Giant but, was most proud of being called Dad and Gramps.
He is survived by his daughter, Laura (Kevin) Karow; grandchildren, Michael (Mike Bien) Karow, Megan (Chris Almeida) Karow; brothers, Marlo (Mary) Roberts, Vern Roberts, Darrell (Sally) Roberts, Larry Roberts; sisters, Rosie Pfeiffer, Beverly (Michael) Gantner; sisters-in-law, Jeanine Roberts, Mary K Roberts. He is further survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Arlie was preceded in death by his parents William and Burnett Roberts; wife, Roane Roberts; son, James Roberts; his in-laws William and Laura Nitz; brother, Duane Roberts; sisters, Darlene Zwicky, Sharon Bradley; brothers-in-law, Ronald Nitz, Robert Pfeiffer, Lee Zwicky, Sam Bradley; sisters-in-law Marilyn Nitz, Joyce Roberts, Geraldine Roberts, Cheryl Roberts; nephews, Maro Roberts Jr., Randall Roberts, and many other loving family members.
The family of Arland would like to give a special thank you to the nurses and staff of Mercy Medical Center for their hard and dedicated work and compassionate care during his time there. His family would also like to encourage everyone to get their COVID-19 vaccinations to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Funeral Service and Internment for Arland will be at 11:00am on Saturday September 11th, 2021 at Liberty Prairie Cemetery in Pickett, WI. Family and friends may come to gather and remember him. The family asks that everyone wear a mask attending the service.
