Armin P. Reschenberg, age 86, of Town of Algoma, died Sunday, November 8, 2009 at Evergreen Retirement Community. He was born May 23, 1923 in Germany the son of Paul and Waleska Wassow Reschenberg. Armin married Ruth Seiter of Wallingford, CT on June 18, 1949, in Meriden, CT.Armin graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1941. He started his academic career at the University of Wisconsin-Madison that fall. Armins education was interrupted by WWII, at which time; he entered the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point, NY, graduating with a degree in Marine Engineering. He served in the Merchant Marine during the war and was a combat veteran sailing in the Pacific. Armin sailed in the U.S. Merchant Marine for one year after graduating from Kings Point, after the war. Resuming his studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Armin graduated in 1950 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Returning to Oshkosh, Armin joined the family business, Enterprise Steelfab, Inc. retiring in 1994 as Chairman of the Board.Armin was on the original board of directors of Bethel Home and was active during the construction of the Home. He served on numerous Vocational Education Committees at Oshkosh High School and was a member of the Planning Committee for Oshkosh North High School. In 1972, Armin was elected to the School Board for the Oshkosh Area Public Schools. He was a senior member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers serving as President of the regional chapter. Armin also was a member of many other professional and civic organizations.For over 50 years Armin was an active member of St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oshkosh, where he served as President of the Church Council as well as serving on the Stewardship, Call and Finance Committees.Armin was a devoted family man, a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be sadly missed by all of us. He leaves behind his wife of 60 years, Ruth; one daughter, Lynn (John) Scoggins of Woodinville, WA; one son, Gary (June) Reschenberg of Town of Algoma; four grandchildren; Brian Scoggins of Seattle, WA; Kristin Reschenberg of Oshkosh, WI; Elise Scoggins of St. Louis, MO; and Peter Reschenberg of Madison, WI.; one brother, Achim (Elaine) Reschenberg of Oshkosh. He is also survived by one niece and two nephews and their families.At Armins request, cremation services have taken place, and a Memorial Service will be held on Saturday November 14, 2009 at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church(808 N. Main St.) at 11 a.m. with Rev. Ted Johanson officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday at the church from 9:30 until the time of the service.The family would like to express their deepest thanks to Evergreen Retirement Community Staff for their kind and compassionate care.
