Arthur Edward Nickel

Arthur E. Nickel, 80, of Oshkosh passed away at Northpoint Medical & Rehab Center on Saturday February 3, 2007. He was born March 8, 1926 to Ralph and Nellie Nickel. Art grew up in Winneconne, graduating from Winneconne High School in 1944. He was a US Army veteran, having served in Korea. Art married Lois Hielsberg on November 23, 1949. Art served a carpenter apprenticeship with Fluor Bros. Construction, working mainly as a carpenter until his retirement. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #27 F. & AM, Beja Shrine Temple AAONMS, Tripoli Shrine Temple AAONMS, Winnebagoland Shrine Club, and First Presbyterian Church. Art is survived by his wife Lois; three sons Jay, Bruce, and Bill; a daughter Nancy Merrill; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers Herb and Alvin; brother-in-law George Hartmann; and brother and sister-in-law John & Karen Hielsberg. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Nia Hartmann. Cremation has taken place. In accordance with Arts wishes there will be no services.
