Arthur C. Jacobsen, longtime Oshkosh, WI resident, died peacefully on Sunday June 29, 2008 at the Evergreen Retirement Center after a courageous battle with Parkinsons Disease.Arthur was born on April 28, 1920 in Washburn, WI. He was the son of Norwegian immigrant, Martin Jacobsen and Anna Egge Jacobsen. He graduated from Washburn High School and served in the United States Army during World War II. He was wounded on April 1, 1943 in North Africa and discharged in October 1945, and awarded the Purple Heart.He married Dorothy Kinstler on December 15, 1945. She preceded him in death on April 22, 1994. The couple settled in Oshkosh, WI, where he worked for Allstate Insurance and later owned the Algoma Insurance Agency. He was an active member of First English Lutheran Church; Masonic Lodge #27; Winnebago Shrine Club; VFW Post 1908; American Legion Post #70; Disabled American Veterans #17 for which he did a great deal of volunteer work and where he served as commander for several years.He is survived by four sons; Dr. Roger Jacobsen and wife Judith of Oshkosh, WI, Dr. David Jacobsen and wife Renee of Blacksburg, VA, Richard Jacobsen and wife Julie of Neenah, WI, and James Jacobsen of Chicago, IL; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Jacobsen and wife Aurora of Goodview, MN, John Eric Jacobsen and wife Erin of Madison, WI, Aimee Jacobsen and Jennifer Jacobsen both of Neenah, WI. One great-grandaughter; Adele Jacobsen of Goodview, MN, longtime companion Dorothy Laux of Clintonville, WI, his beloved sister, Fern Warren of Waukesha, WI, and numerous nieces and nephews throughout the United States. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harold, Robert, Arnold, and George; sisters, Elizabeth Howell, Catherine Hamel, Ann Kurschner, and Del Jean Anderson.Arthurs funeral service will be on Thursday July 3, 2008 at Noon at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Westside with Rev. Martin Ruge officiating. Entombment will be in Lake View Memorial Park. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Memorials have been established to the Parkinsons Foundation and to the Disabled American Veterans. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the personnel at Evergreen Retirement Center Creekview North and Affinity Hospice for the kindness and compassionate care given to Arthur.
