Arthur Williams

Arthur H. Williams, age 93, passed away Friday January 8, 2010 at Bethel Home. He was born on March 10, 1916 in Chilton, WI, a son of Bernard and Marie (Voss) Williams. On June 30 1951 he married Lillian Noe at First Presbyterian Church in Oshkosh. He worked as a core finisher at Universal Foundry for 37 years and farmed raising steers. He was retired for 30 years which he greatly enjoyed. Together, he and his wife built two homes, one in Oshkosh in 1952 and one on the farm in 1967. At the farm he took great pride in the huge vegetable and flower gardens, his big lawn and was continuously planting trees, raspberries, strawberry beds and feeding the birds. There were many trips around the country camping and by air to California, Oregon, Alabama, Texas, and Pennsylvania. Trips were also made out of the country to Canada, Mexico, Bahamas and eight European countries. In 1979 when he retired, a cottage was purchased up north near Pelican Lake where many good times were spent with great neighbors. There was lots of fishing, fish fries, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, and hiking in the woods. He also enjoyed playing cards and in his younger years ice fishing.Arthur is survived by his wife of 58 years Lillian; a daughter, Linda Hendrix of Bend, OR; a son, Clyde J. (CJ) Williams of Oshkosh and a son, Russell Williams of Oshkosh, from his first marriage. He is further survived by grandchildren and great-grandchildren of WI, CA, and AL; a sister, Erna Achter, a brother, Earl; nieces, nephews and special friends J. Kester, Carol and Dennis. He was preceded in death by two brothers Norman and Erwin and two children from his first marriage.Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at 4 p.m. at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Westside with Rev. Tom Willadsen officiating. Visitation will he held at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Lake View Memorial Park. A memorial has been established.
