Arvid "Bud" M. Carrick , age 92, passed away peacefully in Oshkosh on March 11, 2015. Bud was born in Oshkosh on June 30th, 1922 to Mildred (Thomas) and Edward Carrick. On July 20, 1944 he married the love of his life Antonella "Nell" Gruse of Oshkosh. They were married 70 glorious and loving years!Bud held various positions in the candler & wax product industry throughout his career and was a wax blending, dye and fragrance expert. He was employed by Victrylite, Lenox and Aurora Candlers, and was also an owner and general manager of Old Orchard Candles. Retiring in 1990, Bud and Nell continued to make Oshkosh their home. They were active members of Saint Mary's Catholic Parish where Bud served as an usher for 44 years. He enjoyed participating as a member of the Knights of Columbus and several bowling leagues. He was an avid outdoorsman who especially loved golf, hunting and fishing. He was instrumental in establishing the Otter Street Fishing Club. Bud is survived by his wife Nell; children, Michael (Melody) Carrick of Oshkosh, Patrick (Jill) Carrick of Alexandria, Va, Sally (Bill) Nordstrom of Milwaukee, WI, Colleen "Connie" (Michael) McDonald of San Tan Valley, AZ, and John (Jana) Carrick of Germantown, WI; fourteen grandchildren, Bryan Carrick, Barb (Joel) Riley, David (Kristin) Carrick, Lynsie (Brandt) Bernier, Connor Carrick, Jennifer (Nathan) Ambrose, Sarah (Ryan) Burke, Anna Nordstrom, Deidre Ellars, Caitlin (Jordan) Werly, Sarah McDonald, Kyle Carrick, Kevin Carrick and Abigail Carrick and nine great grandchildren, Emmaline, Audrey, Mia, Evelyn, Parker, Landon, Cameron, Sloane, Mason and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Bud was preceded in death by their daughter, Barbara Ann Carrick; brothers, Richard Carrick, Edward Carrick, Jack Carrick, David Carrick, Jerome Carrick and sister, Joyce (Carrick) Last.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2015 at Most Blessed Sacrament Parish (St. Mary's Catholic Church, 605 Merritt Ave, Oshkosh, WI). Father Jim Jugenheimer will be the Celebrant. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A reception will follow the service in the church basement. A private burial will be held at Lake View Memorial Park.Memorials may be made to the Children's Leukemia Research Association in honor of their daughter, Barbara.
