Audrey J. Betts, age 91, of Oshkosh, passed away February 22, 2017 at Evergreen Retirement Community, Creekview Household 8. Audrey was born February 3, 1926 in Oshkosh, the daughter of Elmer and Pearl (Dougherty) Mortensen.During World War II, Audrey was employed at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. in the Foreign Awards Department, documenting American servicemen that were awarded medals for their actions in the countries where they served. Audrey later was employed by Wisconsin Telephone Co. for 20 years in the Data Processing Center in Oshkosh and in the Switching Equipment Records Department in Appleton. Audrey retired in 1980.Audrey married Gordon W. Betts on December 14, 1946 at the Tenth Street Methodist Church (now Wesley United Methodist Church) the Rev. Marlin Smith officiated. Gordon preceded her in death on January 16, 2010. They enjoyed 63 years together.Audrey is survived by two daughters: Kathy Jameson, Oshkosh and Christine (Paul) Lindauer, Salem, OR. Audrey is also survived by four grandchildren: Matthew Jameson, Oshkosh, Amy (Nick) Yackovich, Wl, Rachel Hock, Santa Rosa, CA and Caleb Hock, Fort Bragg, CA. Audrey is further survived by four great-grandchildren: Noah, Benjamin and Abigail Jameson, Oshkosh and Allistair Hock, Fort Bragg, CA. Many special friends and relatives also survive Audrey. Audrey was preceded in death by her parents Elmer and Pearl Mortensen, her brother Robert Mortensen, her sister Jacqueline Holzer, her in-laws William and Maude Betts, brother-in-law, BoydBetts and sisters-in-law, Opal Panske and Mavis Longworth.Audrey was a member of Algoma Blvd. United Methodist Church, Oshkosh.At her request, no formal funeral or memorial services will be held. A private family service will be held for Audrey in May. Cremation has taken place. Audrey will be interred at Ellenwood Cemetery, Oshkosh, beside her beloved husband, Gordon and near her parents, Elmer and Pearl Mortensen, her brother Robert Mortensen and many family members. Her sister Jacqueline is buried in Rosemond, CA.Audrey's family wishes to thank the Staff of Evergreen Retirement Community, especially those in Creekview Household 8 who became friends and family to her. They also wish to thank Aurora Hospice of Aurora at Home for making her final days comfortable.In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Evergreen Care Assurance (c/o the Evergreen Foundation, 1130 N.
