Audrey L. Guhl Pomraning

Audrey L. Guhl Pomraning, age 105, passed away at Evergreen Retirement Community, Oshkosh on April 17, 2022. She was born to John and Lydia Guhl on January 5, 1917, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. After graduating from Oshkosh High School, she took a few courses at UW-Oshkosh before deciding to attend business school. She spent years working in offices at Sears and elsewhere before returning to UWO in the mid-1960’s and completing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Education. She taught second grade at Merrill Elementary School in Oshkosh until her retirement.

Audrey’s faith was an important part of her life. She was a member of First English Lutheran Church and faithfully attended Cross Connections Bible study.

Audrey supported educational opportunities for women through her longtime membership in the BA Chapter of P.E.O., an international philanthropic organization. Audrey enjoyed traveling and took many cruises with her sister Mabel and friend Fern Werner. She loved dachshunds, especially her beloved Boris.

She is survived by her nephew Jack (Mary) Guhl and niece Helen (Edward) Guhl Adams. She is also survived by grandnieces Debra Guhl, Darcy (Lloyd Brass) Guhl, Shari (John) Troost, and Linda (Jeff) Wolski and grandnephews John (Tracy) Guhl, Jim (Carmen Pinkerton) Guhl and their children and grandchildren. She is further survived by dear friends Cathy Drummond, Beth Rothe, Mary and Deb Kohlbeck, and Phyllis Schilling.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters Mabel Guhl, Ruth (Bob) Behringer and brothers, Alden (Ethel) Guhl, Max (Dorothy) Guhl, Leo (Marie) Guhl, and Oliver (Grace) Guhl and their spouses as well as nephew Bill Guhl and his wife Betty.

A service for Audrey will be held at 11:30 am on Monday, April 25, 2022, at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home, 402 Waugoo Avenue, Oshkosh. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Peace Lutheran Cemetery, 101 W. Wauka Ave., Oshkosh.
