Audrey Mae (Phillips) Wegner, age 90 passed away at her residence on Wednesday, October 27, 2021. She was born to Gilbert and Hazel (Haedt) Phillips on December 16, 1930 in Oshkosh, WI. She attended a one-room country schoolhouse at Brick School in the town of Nekimi, grades one through eight. She graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1949.
She received a CNA diploma after attending Mercy School of Nursing in Oshkosh and was employed at Mercy Hospital for several years.
On July 15, 1950 she was united in marriage to Leonard J. Wegner at Plymouth Congregational Church in Oshkosh. They enjoyed 55 years together in marriage. Their marriage was blessed with three children: Gloria (Gary) Poelman, Sharon (Michael) Callahan, Phillip (Periuza) Wegner. She enjoyed spending time with her four grandchildren: Amie (Timothy) Rickert, Lisa Riley, Emily Callahan, Timothy (Samantha) Callahan. She also was very proud to be a great grandmother to: Isabelle and Liam Callahan, and Ella and Ethen Rickert. Audrey is further survived by sisters-in-law, Brittney Phillips and Audrey Wegner, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other in-laws, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard J. Wegner, infant son Wayne, and her parents.
Audrey and Leonard spent many winters in Leesburg, Florida to escape Wisconsin’s cold winters.
Audrey was a lifelong member of Grace Bible Church. Her heart’s desire and mission was to reach young boys and girls for Christ. She taught Sunday School, Awana, and Jr Church for over 50 years.
She enjoyed shopping for bargains, she also had a passion for cooking and baking and collecting recipes, gardening and just enjoying the outdoors. Preparing meals for other people was always an enjoyment to her.
She worked and retired from AT&T in Oshkosh and Appleton after 25 years of service as an Administrative Clerk. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, “Daughters of Grace” at Grace Bible Church. She was also a member of the Oshkosh Twentieth Century Club.
All are welcome to attend the celebration of Audrey’s life, scheduled for Monday, November 1, 2021 at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Westside, 100 Lake Pointe Dr. at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, interment will be held at Ellenwood Cemetery.
