On November 3, 2021, Barbara Albrecht, 84, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus while her loving husband Ken and family gathered around her bedside at Omro Country Villa. She was recently admitted to the memory care facility after her long battle with Dementia/Alzheimer’s.
She was born on October 24, 1937, in Milwaukee WI, to the late Kurt and Ruth Pahlisch. Barb graduated from Rufus King High School in 1956. She married her high school sweetheart, Ken Albrecht on October 6, 1956 in Milwaukee. They have four children, Jim (Ann) Albrecht, Keith (Terri) Albrecht, Sandy (Glenn) Schmidt and their stillborn baby girl in Heaven. They also have two grandsons, one granddaughter-in-law and six great grandchildren.
Barb started her career working at her family’s greenhouse in Glendale. After moving to Oshkosh in 1976, Barbara worked at Kohl’s Food Store. In April 1981, Barb and Ken opened Island Foods grocery store in Neenah. The couple, along with their three children ran the store together until August 1996. Barb finished her working career at the Oshkosh Area School District in the lunch department, then retired in 2012.
Barb enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, puzzles, games, Hallmark movies, music and singing (especially old hymns) and family get togethers. She also enjoyed over 40 years of camping with all her family at their property in Adams County.
Barb is survived by her husband Ken Albrecht; children Jim (Ann) Albrecht, Keith (Terri) Albrecht, Sandy (Glenn) Schmidt; two grandchildren, Josh (Jessica) Andersen and Jason Andersen; six great grandchildren, Tyler, Wesley, Daxler, Patience, Serenity and Quinn Andersen; brother-in-law, Jim (Nancy) Albrecht; sisters-in-law, Arlene Winkelhake, and Ruthie (Connie) Meyer.
In addition to her parents, Barb was preceded in death by their still born baby girl, her siblings Bob (Lorraine) Pahlisch, Ellen (Jerry) Aldenhoff, and Marilyn (Cliff) Peak; brother-in-law, Lou Winkelhake; nephews, Gary Pahlisch and Greg Pahlisch.
The service for Barbara Albrecht will be held at Community Church Oshkosh (2351 Ryf Rd) on Tuesday, at 11:30am. Visitation will be held from 10am until the time of service. Entombment will take place at Lake View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association.
