Barbara J. Bender, 74 Oshkosh passed away at Northpoint Medical & Rehabilitation Center on Saturday Feb. 16, 2008. She was born July 25, 1933 in Cook County, Chicago, IL, the daughter of Harry and Elizabeth Marini Mager.In 1950 she moved to Oshkosh to live with a sister. On Feb. 9, 1952 she married Kenneth Bender at Tenth Street Methodist Church. She was a homemaker but also was involved in the care of several elderly people in Oshkosh. She enjoyed needle work and sewing. She also enjoyed traveling throughout the US and Europe. One of her biggest joys was to be one of the last people to tour the Hummel factory in 1978. She was actually able to see them hand made.She is survived by her husband, Ken; a daughter, Janis Rost-White and her husband Tom White, of Oshkosh; two sons, Thomas (Rebecca) Bender of Bennett, N.C.; Steven (Sandra) Bender of Wautoma; seven grandsons, Erik (Jennifer) Bender and Matthew Bender of Bennett, N.C. Gregory and Robbie Bender of Oshkosh; Alex (Jennifer) Rost, Andrew and Michael Rost of Oshkosh; and three great grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters, Bonnie Dennis of Lakeland, FL; Betty Jane Mager of Cameron Park, CA and Beverly Jeican of Silver Springs, NV; a sister-in-law Delores (Jerome) Grunwald; a brother-in-law Norman (Donna) Bender and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Donald Mager of California; a grandson Thomas Bender II of North Carolina and a brother-in-law LaVern Bender of Racine.Funeral services will be held at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home- Westside on Wednesday Feb. 20, 2008 at 4:00 PM with Rev. Jean Schmidt officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2:00 PM to the time of service. Entombment will be at Lake View Memorial Park Mausoleum.
