Barbara J Marx

September 24, 1937 — March 1, 2018

Barbara Jean (Zillges) Marx, Age 80, was welcomed into her heavenly home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and all her family and friends on March 1, 2018.

Barbara was born on September 24, 1937 to the late Clarence and Leona (Leiby) Zillges, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin where she lived out her life. She graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1955, and went on to work at the telephone company, and later on as a lease agent for Schneider National Trucking Company. However, Barbara’s greatest job in life was being a home-maker. She made a wonderful home for her family, and made everyone feel at home in her presence. Throughout her life, Barbara enjoyed bowling at the T&O Lanes, being part of the “Card Club” with close friends for over 40 years, gardening, canning salsa and dill pickles with her husband Ken that they frequently shared with family, and most of all she was famous for her “stuffed buns” and breadsticks that all her kids and grandkids fought over. Her grandchildren were at the center of her life (and there were many as you will see later in this article). She was a constant source of love, help, and support, taking care of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always attending sports and school events, and asking “How was your day”? Barbara was a member of St. Jude Parish.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Leona Zillges; 6 brothers: Lester, William, Everett, Eugene, Jerome, and Roger (Zillges); 5 sisters: Evelyn Hackbarth, Beatrice Matsche, Genevieve Zwicky-Werner, Marion Weger, and Marlene Zuhlke, and one granddaughter: Marissa M. Marx, who was surely the head of the welcoming committee in Heaven saying, “Grandma, let me show you your room”!

She is survived by her best friend and the love of her life for over 62 years, Kenneth Marx; 3 children: Michael (Julie) Marx; Jayne (Michael) Blaser; Kelly (Stephen) Schutzbank; Grandchildren: Jonathan (Terri), Corey, Nyckole (Earl), Bret (Bobbie), Sarah (Mike), Autumn, Mark (Heather), Miles, Kyle, Abigail, Adam; Great-grandchildren: Evelyn, Abram, Bradley, Dakota, Corey Jr., Ava, Gavin, Bella, Zackary, Ceairra, Shianne, Tyler, Evan, Brandon, Savannah, Jayden, Javonte, Javari, Rowan, Derek, Kacie, Kingston, Kroix; and Great-great grandchildren: Allayna, Autumn, Ariel, Parker and Lincoln.

A visitation and mass will be held on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at St. Jude the Apostle Parish at the Sacred Heart site located at 519 Knapp Street in Oshkosh, WI. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with mass beginning at 1:00 p.m. followed by a graveside service at Lake View Memorial Park.

The family extends their sincere and heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Bethel Home, Affinity Hospice, and a very special “thank you” to Carol Wiechman and Lori Felix and all of the staff at Parkview Health Center for their exceptional care, and kindness shown to Barbara and all our family during this very difficult time—we appreciate everyone who helped on this journey.
