Bernice L. Labuwi

Bernice L. La Buwi, 83 years old, died peacefully of natural causes on Friday, February 18, 2011 at Bethel Home in Oshkosh. Daughter of Henry and Elsa Berg Schulz, she was born in Oshkosh on March 31, 1927. On October 20, 1951 she married the love of her life, Robert L. La Buwi at Peace Lutheran Church in Oshkosh. A lifelong member of Peace Lutheran Church Bernice was also church secretary for many years. She loved music and sang in the church choir. Both she and Bob belonged to the Volunteer People of Peace. She will be fondly remembered for her deep faith, eternal optimism and joy of life. Bernice is survived by her husband of 59 years, Robert La Buwi of Oshkosh; three sons, David (Diane) La Buwi of Pickett, WI, John (Kathleen) La Buwi of Oshkosh, and James (Christine) La Buwi of Madison, WI; granddaughter, Kimberly (Tyler) Kosmoski; great grandchildren, Emma, Mike, Bryce, and Mason Kosmoski; and a sister, Charlotte Christen of Bedford, MA. Funeral services for Bernice will be held at Peace Lutheran Church on Wednesday, February 23, 2001 at 1:30 PM with Rev. Timothy Greenwald officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Park. Family and friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 11:00 AM until the time of the funeral.
