Our social butterfly has taken flight. Betty Jane Erickson, age 98, passed away peacefully on July 9th, 2021. She was born on August 21, 1922 in Oshkosh and lived there her entire life. She is survived by her two sons Bruce and Tom Erickson and their families.
Betty Price married Vernon “Swede” Erickson on July 22, 1946. She was a sports fanatic, a waitress at Robbins for over 40 years, a beloved Miss Wisconsin chaperone/companion for 25 years, and she loved working in grocery stores because it gave her a chance to talk to everyone. She loved sparkles and bling, telling jokes and laughing, she was funny, warm, kind, loving, feisty, tough, spunky, sweet, loveable, sassy, and loved by everyone.
Special thanks to Tim, Cheryl, and the staff at Oakwood Manor (and to Lisa and staff at Arboretum) for loving and taking such good care of Betty (especially during COVID), to the Lakeland Care staff for their many years of caring for Betty, and the Generations Hospice team for their compassion and guidance.
Due to ongoing COVID concerns, an outdoor Celebration of Life will take place at 11AM on July 19, 2021, at Lakeview Memorial Park with Pastor Karen Jewell officiating. A celebratory church service will be held at St. Andrew’s at a later date. Casual dress and bling are encouraged.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Alzheimers.org or your local Boys and Girls Club.
