Betty Jane Werner

Betty Jane Werner age 81 of Oshkosh, died at MercyMedical Center on Monday, August 20, 2012. She was born in Oshkosh on January 8, 1931, a daughter of the late Ernst and Minnie Nitz Rushkofske. She married Duane S. Werner in Oshkosh on June 18, 1955. Duane preceded her in death on October 19, 1998. Betty was a faithful member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, member of the Dorcas Circle and sang in the church choir. She had been an elementary school teacher at Emmeline Cook Elementary School until her retirement 23 years ago. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association. Survivors include two sisters, Beverly Gade of Oshkosh; Eva Timm of Appleton; one brother, Thomas (Mary) Rushkofske of Appleton; a brother-in-law, Henry Kriha of Oshkosh; close friends, Carl & Lynda Olsen of Oshkosh and Ivan & Pauline Werner of Oshkosh. She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane; her parents Ernst and Minnie Rushkofske; one sister, Adeline Kriha; four brothers-in-law, Donald Gade, Earl Timm, Raymond Werner, Glen Werner, one sister, Adeline Kriha her mother-in-law, Brianna Hempel DuVall and father-in-law, Arthur Werner.Funeral services for Betty will be held at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church (370 Bowen St.) on Friday, August 24, 2012 at 1:00 pm with the Rev. Kelly Leary officiating. Family and friends may call at the church on Friday from 11:00 am to the time of service. Internment will follow at Lake View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to either Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church & School or the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
