Betty Lou Schnell, 76, of Oshkosh passed away on October 4, 2006.She was born in Oshkosh November 27, 1929 the daughter of the late Riley Ray and Hazel Ruth (Blanchard) Johnson.Betty graduated from Oshkosh High School with the class of 1947, and was active in planning of class reunions for many years.On May 17, 1952 she married Gerald Floyd Schnell. The remained married for 53 years and had four children. Betty worked for the Wisconsin Telephone Company for 33 years, 7 months, retiring in 1982. After retiring, she kept busy traveling with her husband. She was also an active member and volunteer with many organizations, including St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Telephone Pioneers, the Ladies Elks, American Legion Post #70, Special Olympics, Oshkosh Business Womens Club, the Rape Crisis Center, the Board of Directors at the Oshkosh Boys and Girls Club, United Cerebral Palsy, and the Club 13 Auxiliary.Betty is survived by her children, Roxanne (Stephen) Loker; Robert (Debra) Schnell; Robyn (Wendy) Schnell, and Tina (Bob) Nelson; six grandchildren, Charlie Schnell; Kristen Schnell; Megan Loker; Karly Nelson; Kelsey Nelson and Nickolas Schnell; and one sister, Janet Clark. Betty also has extended family in the area, nieces, nephews and other family members. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Bean Schnell, and by her granddaughter, Kamille Nicole Nelson.Friends can visit the family on Saturday October 14, 2006 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM with funeral services immediately following at the St John Ev. Lutheran Church (808 N. Main St. in Oshkosh) with the Rev. Joel Olsen officiating.Memorials in Bettys name may be directed to the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life or the St. John Ev. Lutheran Church.Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many, who opened her home to all. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her and knew her.
