Betty Rose Diebold

June 13, 1932 — October 27, 2015

Betty Rose Diebold (Thibedeau) went home on Tuesday, October 27th 2015 to be with her husband, Richard Lawrence Diebold, who preceded her in death 13 years ago. Mom was 83 years old, although she would tell you 21 if you asked her age. She was born on June 13, 1932 in Birchwood, WI to Arthur and Olive (Mapes) Thibedeau, one of six children. Preceding her in death: her parents, sister Margaret, and brother Neal. Surviving her are her sisters Bert Ansorge (Milwaukee, WI), Bev (Mike) ODonnell and her brother Jim (Jean) Thibedeau (both living in Park Falls, WI). Mom was a bit of a trouble maker, and hopped on a bus after high school graduation to go to the big city of Milwaukee. She met our dad (tall, dark, and handsome guy who was a bit of a trouble maker himself) while working at a diner there and after less than a month of knowing each other they started off on the adventure of a lifetime They hitch-hiked across the country and got married along the way. California was home for most of their married lives with some moves back home to Wisconsin thrown in. That adventure lasted for 51 years before Dad left us for his new residence in heaven in 2003. Easy life, nope. One of the greatest lessons they taught us is that marriage is a commitment and you sometimes have to work at it. They had six children: Debe (Terry) Holling (San Bernadino, California), Rick (Shari) Diebold (Henderson, Nevada), Clifford (Mona) Diebold (Baldwin, WI), Betty Jo (Randy) Balzar (Neenah, WI), Olive Jane (Rodney) Frazier (Oshkosh, WI), Faith Ann (Dennis) Gerner (Fond du Lac, WI). We all know who Moms favorite was, but were not telling. Mom spent her last years living at home surrounded by the hundreds of dolls, cookie jars, Boyds Bear figurines, and salt and pepper shakers she loved to collect. Her teacup poodle, Kilo, spent hours curled up on Moms lap keeping her company. Her grandchildren (all nine of them: Lisa (Donny) Knoblauch, Erin Diebold, Jason (Ashley) Diebold, Justin Diebold, Sarah Ann (Cody) Tucker, Joel Michael Balzar, Caleb Gerner, Jazmin Frazier, and Claire Gerner) and great grandchildren (all six of them: Aubriana, Kaylynn, Cameron, Brayden, Morgan and Calen) were the love of her life and hearing their voice or seeing their picture on space-book was sure to bring a smile to her face! She had a spunk that shined through right up to the end.A funeral service for Betty will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at Konrad-Behlman Funeral homes-(Westside) with Rev. David Millsaps officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Special thanks to Dr. Alzoubi and his nursing staff who spent hours with Mom over the years caring for her various medical needs and the pharmacists at Shopko in Oshkosh who were so helpful in managing Moms medications over the year. In addition, thank you to the staff at Aurora Medical Center who was so very patient with Mom. We are sure you met up with Daddy by the Eastern Gate wait for us there!
