Beulah A. Binder

Beulah A. (Potratz) Binder, 87, of Carmel Residence in Oshkosh, died on Good Friday, April 10, 2009. She was born in Aitken County, MN on March 28, 1922 a daughter of the late Louis and Elizabeth (McAninch) Rodrek. Beulah was married to Orville Potratz on August 1, 1942 in Oshkosh. He preceded her in death on December 13, 1964. On February 7, 1969 she married Adolph Binder in Oshkosh. He preceded her in death on August 8, 1998.Beulah graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1939, went to Oshkosh Normal School (Oshkosh Teachers College) for two years and got her Bachelors of Science (Teaching) degree in 1964. She started teaching in Winnebago County in 1941 and retired with the Oshkosh Area Schools in 1985. Beulah was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Women and the Sarah Susannah Circle. She was also member of Gamma Chapter Phi Beta Sigma National Fraternity in Education, a life member of the National Education Association, the Wisconsin Education Association and the Winnebago retired Educators Association. Out of all of her accomplishments the greatest one to Beulah was her five daughters!Survivors include her daughters, Janice Klimke of Fond du Lac, Marilyn (George) Starey of Englewood, FL, Yvonne (Donald) Clark of Broadhead, Judith (Paul) Mohr of Plymouth, MN and Phyllis Seekins of Neenah. She is further survived by a step son, Richard (Linda) Binder of Winchester, VA, a step daughter, Gloria (Vernet) Slife of Wautoma, a step son-in-law, Glen Siekierke; and numerous grandchildren, great grand children, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Along with Adolph and Orville, she was preceded in death by her sister, Florence Atkinson and step daughter, Ruth Siekierke. A private family memorial service will be held. Interment will be at Scheller Cemetery. A memorial in Beulahs name is being established.
