Billy Dean Gregory

Billy Jungle Bill Dean Gregory, age 71, passed away Monday February 7, 2011 at Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh. Billy was born on August 29, 1939 to Ralph and Edna Gregory in Appleton. After working at Rockwell International for 30 years Billy retired and enjoyed his hobbies of fishing and collecting and trading antique fishing lures. Prior to his career at Rockwell, Billy served in the United States Navy from November 1957 until his honorable discharge in February 1962. After finishing his training at Great Lakes Naval Training Center in Illinois he was stationed aboard the USS Columbus (CA-74) Pacific Fleet and in November 1960 was awarded a Good Conduct Medal. At the time of his discharge he was a Cadet Engineer aboard the USS Mahan (DLG-11) Pacific Fleet. Billy is survived by his wife of 51 years, Beverly Joyce (Drew) Gregory. He is also survived by two sisters Donna (Warner) Rumlow of Omro and Patsy (David) Steinbach of Brookfield; five daughters, Misty (Craig) Hawley, Julie Tessen, Jodie Jones, Kay (Bill) Hentz, and Renee Bates all of Oshkosh; and twelve grandchildren, Kim Hawley, Erin Hawley, Tosha Tessen, Lee Hopfensperger, Tamara Jones, Brent Jones, Jeremy Hentz, Jason Hentz, Alicia Hentz, Amelia Bates, Harper Rost, and Gretchen Rost. A memorial service for Billy will be held Saturday February 12, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Westside, Rev. Jeffrey Knoll officiating. Family and friends may call at the Lake Pointe Drive funeral home on Saturday from 4 p.m. until the service. In lieu of flowers a memorial in Billys name is being established for the Childrens Hospital. Billys family would like to thank the Emergency Room and Intensive Care staff at the Aurora Medical Center for their thoughtful and compassionate care of Billy in his final hours with his family by his side.
