Blanche Julia Bowen

Blanche J. Bowen passed away June 8th, 2009 at her home, Harbor House in Oshkosh, at the age of 92. She was born August 9th, 1916, the daughter of Herman and Francis (Druggis) Kolpin in Glen Rock, Wisconsin. She attended schools in Milwaukee and Berlin. Blanche married the love of her life, Dwain Bowen (deceased), on July 13, 1935 in Milwaukee. They made their homes in Milwaukee, Omro, and Oshkosh, and rejoiced in 62 years of marriage. They were the devoted and loving parents of six daughters- Beverly (deceased) (David) Miller of Oshkosh, Shirley (Joseph) Borsi/Bowen of Ripon, Judy (Edward) Pollex of Oshkosh, Arlene (Daniel) Benedict of Winneconne, Gail (Raymond) Stevens of Eagle River, and Gwenn Fisher of Oshkosh. Blanche worked as a CNA for Mercy Hospital and the County Hospital. She retired from the State Hospital after 25 years as a compassionate and dedicated employee. She worked with patients in a job she thoroughly enjoyed and felt greatly rewarded. Blanche took vast pleasure in her homemaking, gardening, and needlework skills. She created a warm and welcoming environment for all. What she enjoyed most in life was being with her girls and family of 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She was a devout catholic and a member of St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church. Memorial services will be held on Thursday June 11th at St. Raphael the Archangel, 830 S. Westhaven Dr., Oshkosh. Family and friends may visit at the church from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM with the service following. Private interment will take place at Lake View Memorial Park. Blanches family would like to thank all the staff of Harbor House for their loving and excellent care. Also, a special thanks to Nikkie Ryberg of Aurora VNA Hospice.
