Brenda Jean Hawig

Brenda Jean Hawig was born on January 31, 1957 to Leland and Alice Schukow in Sheboygan and passed away peacefully on March 10, 2025 in Oshkosh at the age of 68. She graduated from Sheboygan South High School and on April 25, 1987 was united in marriage to John Hawig in Sheboygan. She attended Lakeshore Technical College for Accounting and worked in Accounts Payable for Art Imig’s and then Mayline Co until she retired in 2018. She also worked as a beautician for The Hairdressers and Accent Beauty Salon in Sheboygan.

Brenda served as a board member for TOPS for over forty years and established many friendships through her membership in TOPS and WW. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, dogs, sewing, quilting, crocheting, gardening, traveling, TOPS retreats, soap operas, playing cards and games, puzzles, baking, making candy, and scrapbooking retreats with her daughter. She made newborn booties and hats for area hospitals, volunteered for church craft and rummage sales, led her daughter’s Girl Scout troop, and attended her grandson’s numerous school and sporting events. She will be missed beyond measure.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She is survived by her husband of nearly 38 years, John Hawig of Oshkosh; daughter, Lisa (Brian) Spaeth of Oshkosh; grandson, Aiden Spaeth of Oshkosh; brother, Brian (Lynn) Schukow of Brooklyn Center, MN; niece, Jessica (Thomas) Bush and their children, Tobias and Talia, of Brooklyn Park, MN; special aunt, Mitzi Papenfuss of Oshkosh. She is further survived by three sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends. Brenda is preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 18th, 2025 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (2450 W. 9th Ave, Oshkosh WI 54904), from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Greg Koepsell officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church or the Oshkosh Area Humane Society in Brenda’s name are appreciated.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the nursing staff at Ascension, Aurora, and most recently Ascension At Home and Compassus for their kind care throughout her battle with cancer.
