Brodie Barksdale

Brodie Barksdale Sr. died Sunday November 8, 2009 at Northpoint Medical & Rehabilitation. He was born on January 18, 1929 to the late Haywood and Cora Malone Barksdale in Holly Springs, Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his wife Alberta Sayles Barksdale, two brothers Detroit and Henry Sr. Barksdale, and a sister Jerlee Hubard. He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Jones Grove M. B. Church, where he served on the Deacon board until he moved to Oakland, CA. He leaves to mourn in his passing twelve children; six loving daughters. Cora (Ben) Stevenson, Rebecca Porter Dowdy both of Holly Springs, MS, Linda Faye Driver of Lakeland, FL, Emma Jean Barksdale of Milwaukee, Mary Barksdale and Carla Wilson both of Memphis, TN, six sons, Brodie Jr. (Terri) Barksdale of Oshkosh, Robert (Dianne) Barksdale of Raleigh,NC, Chester Leroy (Patricia) Barksdale, Jackie (Kim) Wilson, Lawrence (Cathy) Barksdale, and Willie James all of Memphis, TN; two sisters Agnes Ribinson of Encino, CA and Anna Ribinson of Chicago,IL; 44 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a host of nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends; and one special family friend Mr. Ernest Harris. A memorial service for Brodie will be held Saturday November 14, 2009 at 1:00 PM at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Westside, Rev. Paul Stevens officiating. There will be one hour of visitation before the service.
