Burton J. Carpenter, age 85 of Oshkosh died at Century Oak on Sunday, July 17, 2011. He was born in Omro on March 2, 1926, a son of the late Lester and Emma Carpenter. Burton married Agnes Hodel in Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Oshkosh on March 25, 1967.Burton served his country in the U.S. Navy. He retired from Castle Pierce Printing Company after 35 years of service. For 15 years Burton enjoyed working at his hobby farm in Waukau and selling flowers and vegetables at his Farmers Market. He was a Master Gardener for 25 years and in 2004 was honored with the Golden Trowel Award by the Master Gardeners. He raised chickens and sold eggs at the farm. His many pets loved being with him at the farm. Burton enjoyed traveling and watching the Milwaukee Brewers.Survivors include his wife, Agnes of Oshkosh; two grandsons, Ryan (Sandy) Carpenter; Tim (Amy) Carpenter; four great grandsons, Jacob, max, Drew and Zach Carpenter; and one daughter-in-law, Laurie Carpenter. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, James Carpenter; three brothers, Martin, Victor, Donald Carpenter; and five sisters, Lucile Wendling, Gladys Spiegelberg, Crystal Lippert, Marie Heidl and Velma Carpenter.Funeral services will be held at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Westside on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Paul Lidtke officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1:00 PM to the time of service. Interment and Military Honors will follow at Waukau Cemetery. A memorial has been established.
