Carol Stadler of Oshkosh died peacefully on January 15 at Evergreen Retirement Community in Oshkosh after a lengthy illness.
Carol was born June 28, 1944, in Yonkers, NY, as the eldest child of Joseph and Grace Scheller. She grew up in Westchester County, New York, and attended the State University of New York at New Paltz. After college she joined IBM, eventually retiring as Chief Financial Officer of one of its divisions. While at IBM in New York she met and married Fred Stadler in August of 1979. They moved from South Salem, New York to Arlington, Texas and after retirement they moved to Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Carol and Fred were both active volunteers at the Experimental Aircraft Association, where Carol created a Children’s Activity Hangar for young attendees at its annual event and also served as the aircraft greeter volunteer chairman. Carol was a board member of the Winnebago County Historical Society and an active member of the Lakeside Quilters Guild.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Robert Scheller. She is survived by her husband, Fred Stadler; sister, Jean Winkler; three children, Eric Stadler, Robert Stadler, and Susan Gagne; and seven grandchildren.
No public memorial services are planned at this time. Carol’s family is particularly appreciative of the compassionate care she received while at Evergreen.
