Carol M. Wokosin, 83, of Oshkosh, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, November 2nd, 2024, at the home of her daughter, Linda, with her family by her side. Carol was born August 2nd, 1941, in Oshkosh, daughter of Henry and Joan Dahl, the eldest of six siblings.
After graduating from Oshkosh High School in the Class of 1959, she went on to earn her undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and a second degree in social work at Briar Cliff College in Iowa. She married Jim Wokosin on September 6th, 1963. After Carol and Jim had their two children, they moved to Sioux City, IA and raised them in the Morningside community. Her impact on the community was profound - she dedicated herself to making a difference at Nodland Elementary, supporting Big Brothers and Big Sisters, and serving as a volunteer first responder for the Red Cross.
In 1990, Carol and Jim returned to Oshkosh to spend their later years with friends and family. She managed the Book Warehouse for over a decade, sharing her love of reading with others, especially her grandchildren. In her free time, she loved quilting, reading, and volunteering at the Oshkosh Area Community Pantry. In addition to her hobbies, she found her greatest joy in spending time with her family. She was her family's biggest supporter and a constant presence at Oshkosh West soccer games and swim meets cheering for her grandchildren. She also loved visiting her grandsons in California and attending their sports games and school activities. Her life was a testament to her resilience, empathy, and strength that touched everyone around her.
Carol is survived by her daughter Linda (Michael Begler) Janotha; son, Mike (Amanda Massucci) Wokosin; grandchildren: Caroline and Zachary Janotha and River and Schyler Wokosin; brothers: Bob (Karen), George (Barb), David (Lori), and John (Barb) Dahl; sister, Pat (Mike) Kulibert; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Dennis Dahl, and husband, Jim Wokosin.
A celebration of life was held at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home in Oshkosh. Carol's family would like to express a very special thank you to the Lombardi Cancer Clinic and Hospice Care Team at Aurora Medical Center.
