Carole M. Dolan, 74 died peacefully Friday, May 22, 2009 at Gabriels Villa. She was born April 24, 1935 in Oshkosh to the late August and Mary (Kloiber) Schulz. Carole married Roger K. Dolan on January 21, 1961 at St. Johns Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on May 3, 2004.Carole was devoted to her faith and her family. She met Roger at St. Johns Grade School. She enjoyed sharing many wonderful memories of those days with her children and grandchildren. Carole graduated from Oshkosh High School. She played the drums in high school and this love of music continued throughout her life. She encouraged and supported all her children and grandchildren in their musical, athletic and scouting pursuits. As a young woman, Carole enjoyed traveling and continued to do so for many years. Her most exciting trip was to Germany to meet her first grandchild. Carole had worked in the offices at Buckstaffs, and at the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. She was also a nurses aide at the Winnebago State Hospital before choosing her career as a wonderful mother and gracious homemaker. As a member of St. Marys Catholic Church, Carole was a den mother for the cub scouts of Pack 3619, belonged to the Christian Womens Society and sang in the choir with her beloved Roger for many years. Carole was devoted to her dear sister Florence, their close relationship has provided a wonderful example to her children and grandchildren of the importance of family. She and Roger were also foster parents to several newborn babies. Carole loved to make people feel loved and special. She went out of her way to brighten the lives of many people. Carole loved to bake and share sweets with those she loved, and she was affectionately called Grandma Doughnut.She is survived by four children and their families: Keith (Sue) Dolan, Joe, Emily and Jack of Oshkosh; Mary (Rod) Lehl, Katie and Megan of Hartford; Jim (Lori) Dolan of Omro; and Ann (Bob) Freid, Molly and Ellie of Oshkosh; a sister Florence Sarres of Oshkosh; a brother-in-law Thomas (Doris) Dolan of Combined Locks; sisters-in-law Ione Schulz of Oshkosh and Teresa Schulz of Neenah; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Roger; brothers August and LaVern Schulz; sister-in-law Marie Dolan, and a brother-in-law, the Honorable James G. Sarres.A mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, May 28, 2009 at 5:30 PM at Most Blessed Sacrament Parish-St. Marys site (605 Merritt Avenue), Fr. James Jugenheimer officiating. Family and friends may call at the church on Thursday from 3:30 PM until the time of mass. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Gabriels Villa, Aurora Hospice, Dr. Steven Blaha, Father Joel Sember, Father Jim Jugenheimer and Sr. Judy Miller for their kindness and support.
