Charles A. Nichols, age 83, of Oshkosh, was peacefully called home by the Lord on Friday, March 17, 2017 to join his recently deceased wife Patricia. He was born on July 16, 1933 in Oshkosh, a son of Frederick and Caroline Thurner Nichols. He married Patricia A. Elsworth on October 18, 1952 in Oshkosh.
Charlie enjoyed tinkering on his John Deere Tractor and giving hayrides to his children and grandchildren. For many years he was a cabinet maker which led to him flipping homes before it was the popular thing to do. Charlie was the master of many musical instruments he played trombone, banjo, drums, & piano. He was also very active in the Assembly of God Orchestra. He retired from Mercury Marine as an inspector after 30 years of service. A little known fact about Charlie in his youth he was the City of Oshkosh Marble Champion.
He is survived by, two sons: Douglas (Patti) Nichols, Randall (Lori) Nichols; one daughter: Penny (Michael) Matulle; his grandchildren: Katie Nichols, Jeni Nichols, Dan (Sherrie) Nichols, Heidi (Ethan)Vokral, Rebecca (William) Meulemans, Amanda (Nicholas) Belville, Elizabeth (Nathan) Michael, Michael Nichols, Stacey Nichols; his great-grandchildren: Devan, Marlee, Ava, Charlie, Camille, Harrison, Sawyer, Brian; one brother: Elwin (Carol) Elsworth; one sister: Marjorie (Midge) Berrig.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Patricia, one son Thomas Nichols and a brother-in-law David Berrig.
Visitation for Charles will be held on Monday, March 20, 2017 at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Eastside, 402 Waugoo Ave, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., immediately followed by the funeral service at 6:00 p.m. Burial will be at Borth Cemetery on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at 11a.m.
