Charles Edward Leher

Charles E. Leher, age 76, passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center. He was born on April 8, 1940 to Edward and Charlotte (Brewer) Leher in Oshkosh. He married the love of his life, of 54 years, Lucille Romano on February 17, 1962.Charles graduated from Oshkosh High School and went on to serve his country in the US Army from 1960 until 1964, where he was honorably discharged. He met Lucille in Connecticut and they later moved back to Oshkosh.Chuck was employed at Mercury Marine for a number of years and retired from Arrowhead Conveyor after 35 years of service as a mechanical project engineer.Chuck was an avid hunter. He enjoyed fishing and duck hunting at his dear friends Chaloupek's cottage on Lake Butte des Morts with his dad and friends. He enjoyed spending time at his cabin near Antigo. Chuck was also a lifetime member of the Van Dyne Sportsmen Club where he served on the board of directors.Chuck will be missed greatly by his wife, Lucille; daughters, Laurie (Mark) Kallas and Andrea (Doug) Reitz and beloved granddaughter, Olivia Kallas; and sister, Barbara (Roger) Bodart. He is further survived by two brothers-in-law, Michael (Suzanne) and Fred (Lorraine) Romano; and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents and mother and father-in-law Carmel and Fred Romano.A visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 21 with a service immediately following at 2:00 p.m. at Lake View Memorial Park Chapel (2786 Algoma Blvd, Oshkosh) with Fr. Doug LeCaptain officiating. Following the service, full military honors will take place at the graveside.
