Charles William Udulutch

Charles Chuck Udulutch, of Oshkosh, WI went to be with the Lord on May 17, 2016. He was a loving and wonderful son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandpa. He married Eleanor (Hougom) on July 18, 1954 at First Lutheran Church in Onalaska, WI and they were happily married for 61 years. Charles was a loving husband to Eleanor and she was by his side when he passed away.Charles was born on June 16, 1932 to Wilfred and Myrtle (Wardwell) Udulutch and grew up in La Crosse, WI. Charles served his country for 4 years in the US Air Force. He was stationed in Casablanca, French Morocco (Africa). When he returned home from the service, he studied business administration at Winona State. He moved his family to Richland Center, WI to work at Lunenschloss Hansens Furniture Store. He was President of the church council at St. Johns Lutheran Church, a member of the Richland Center Jaycees, and Co-Chairman of the Richland Center United Way.He was active in sports until his forties, playing baseball, fast-pitch and slow-pitch softball. He played in several state fast-pitch softball tournaments. In 1972 he moved to Oshkosh, WI and purchased Seifeldt Furniture. For 12 years, he was the proud owner of this high quality furniture store. Charles continued his career for an additional 12 years as a manager-consultant for furniture stores, traveling with Eleanor across the US. He was a member of the Oshkosh American Legion and President of the church council for Christ Lutheran Church.He loved his family and spent many days helping his children with projects around their homes. He enjoyed watching and attending NASCAR races. He enjoyed telling jokes in his own unique way, especially about fishing. You could always find Charles on the dance floor at wedding receptions. He became quite the handy-man and could be found painting, staining and varnishing woodwork, helping family and friends move and organize, and providing his expertise on how to repair furniture.He was especially fond of fishing and taking in the peace and quiet provided by being on the water. After many years of fishing, he was thrilled to finally catch the elusive musky. In 2012, he and Eleanor were able to make his dream of living in Hayward, WI come true. There, he could be found fishing on the local lakes year round. He also enjoyed serving as President of the Pine Meadows Condo Association and was a member of the Hayward Wesleyan Church. He always looked forward to the annual spring Crappie Fishing Weekend with his sons-in-law and friend Jim. Many cherished memories, and a few tall fish tales were created from these fishing expeditions. Fishing with the guys again this spring was the last thing on his bucket list and he did it!Charles is survived by his loving wife, Eleanor, and his three children Sue (Scott) Dehne, Carol (Charlie) Weinholzer, and Steven (Theresa) Udulutch. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren Jeremy, Angela, Amber, Michael, Allison, Melissa, Alexander, and Branden; and five great-grandchildren Alex, Jula, Maelyn, Mallory, and Zarah. Also surviving are sisters Carol Udulutch, Ellen (Brad) Filzen, Mary (Jerry) Guentner, Janice Evans, and brother-in-law LeRoy Hougom Sr., and sisters-in-law Barbara Anderson and Bonnie Hotson.Charles was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Ruth Senn, and his brother Bill Udulutch. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, May 21 at First Lutheran Church, 410 Main Street, Onalaska, WI from 8:30AM until the service at 10:30AM. The family will be making a donation to the American Heart Association. Charles always considered La Crosse his home, and will be returning there to his final resting place at Oak Grove Cemetery.
