Charles S Young, passed away peacefully on January 3rd, 2025 surrounded by those he loved most. He was a charismatic grumpy old man that people were drawn to and he made friends wherever he went. He had graduated from Neenah high school and enjoyed the class reunions and getting to see his classmates again after years. After high school he served in the marine corps during the Vietnam war. When he returned home he worked for Neenah Foundry for over thirty years. He had officially retired in 2006 but got bored and went back to work. Charles had many hobbies to keep him going, he loved fishing and spent most weekends out on the lake. He also loved cars and would attend every car show around here just to meet people and tell them about the Austin-Healey he had back in the day. He also had a habit of playing the lottery, there wasn’t a drawing that went by that he didn’t have a ticket for. He never won, but that didn’t stop him from trying each week. He also loved animals and never complained when his life partner brought home a new pet, weather it was a cat, dog, birds, rabbits, and numerous other animals he just would smile and go with the flow. These last few months he also picked up playing the ukulele and enjoyed the outings until the end. Charles was “Grumpy Grandpa” because he liked to complain, but he loved his family and did whatever he could for them.
Charles is survived by his life partner Bonnie Young, granddaughter Megan (Jeff Budelier) Young, his pets Sparky, Kona, and Pumpkin, his brother-in-law Al (Barry) Gauger, Step-daughters Jody Robinson and Jamie Karsarsky, and his brother, niece and nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents Annette and Harold Young.
Private burial will take place.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the boys and girls brigade of Neenah.
Also play the lottery and think of him, whether it be scratch offs or power ball he will be watching and waiting for you to win.
