Charlotte H. Schuessler, age 87 of Oshkosh, passed away at Aurora Medical Center surrounded by family on Wednesday, March 20, 2024. She was born on October 8, 1936, to the late Lawrence and Marion (Kinsler) Degner. She was united in marriage to Roy Schuessler on September 25, 1954.
Starting off as a nanny, she later ventured into working at the telephone company. Along the way, she became a devoted wife, a loving mother, a doting grandmother, and even had the joy of being a great-grandmother.
With a steadfast faith, Charlotte remained a lifelong member of First English Lutheran Church in Oshkosh, actively taking part in the church choir and First English Tableau.
In her free time, she enjoyed working on puzzles and sewing, often lending her skills to assist with costumes and make-up for the Oshkosh West musicals. She was a competitive card player, was active in a bowling league, served as a Miss Wisconsin Hostess, and when football season came, she always looked forward to cheering on the Packers.
Charlotte touched family, friends and total strangers with her grace and gentle soul. Her wisdom, thoughtfulness, kindness, caring, and compassion was truly evident in her life’s journey. Charlotte’s faith in our Lord and Savior fulfilled her life. Our Lord used her as an instrument to advocate his message. She was a cherished and precious spirit, a treasure, and a beautiful blessing. She loved and loved deeply, always unconditionally. We thank God for the gift and miracle of such a sweet and gentle soul. We love you mom. Forever and ever. Holding you close, and deep within our hearts.
Charlotte is survived by children, George (Ladora) Schuessler, Charmaine (Edward) Czaja, James (Jeanette) Schuessler, and Roy L. (Michele) Schuessler, ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Roy Schuessler, and siblings, Louise, Lawrence “Larry” and Carol Degner.
A funeral service for Charlotte will be held at First English Lutheran Church, 1013 Minnesota St. on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Jon Radichel-Wills officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will take place at Lake View Memorial Park.
The Schuessler family would like to extend their deep appreciation to the staff at Aurora Medical Center and Aurora Hospice.
