Cheryl Ann Schamens

October 2, 1946 — May 8, 2022

Cheryl Ann Schamens, age 75, passed away on May 8, 2022, at Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh. She was born on October 2, 1946, in Onalaska to the late Russell and Dolyce (Otto) Skogen.

When Cheryl moved to Oshkosh,WI she began working at Copps Food Center as a cashier and eventually was promoted to service desk/bookeeper. From there, she began her career in the travel and hospitality industry with Fox Valley Travel, and then Ambassador Travel. In 1992, Cheryl started her career at TMI Property Management when she was hired as the first General Manager of the Fairfield Inn in Oshkosh. Cheryl worked her way up in the company eventually becoming a National Management Recruiter for TMI. After she retired from TMI, she found her perfect part-time job working at the Oshkosh Convention and Visitors Bureau. She thoroughly enjoyed working for the CVB with her co-workers and all their work shenanigans.  Cheryl was an avid golfer and was always looking for a reason to spend time with her family and friends.

Everyone who knew Cheryl knew how kind, fun, personable, and so much more she was. Beyond that, you also knew the thing that brought her the ultimate joy was watching her kids and then her grand kids, play sports. It didn't matter if it was raining, snowing, 2 degrees or 95 degrees, across town or across the state, you knew she was going to be there watching and cheering. You could count on one hand how many games/meets she missed between her 3 kids and 7 grandkids. We all lost a great person and the most loving Mom/Nana we could have asked for.

Mom, thank you for always believing in us, supporting us, pushing us to be a better person, laughing with or at us and epitomizing what unconditional love is. If we are half as admired and loved as you are, we will be grateful. We know you will always be with us and we will do our best to make you proud. We miss you immensely and will love you forever. Now go enjoy the unlimited golf and eternal blue skies in heaven. Until we meet again, Rest in Peace Mom.

The family would like to thank the incredible doctors and nurses in the Mercy Medical Center ICU who provided exceptional care for Cheryl. The family would also like to give a special heartfelt thank you to her friend, Roxanne Lemieux. Your compassion for Cheryl and your comforting guidance for her kids is something we will forever be appreciative of. You are the definition of what a great friend is and Cheryl was lucky to have you in her life.

Cheryl is survived by her children: Mark Schamens, Nicole Pietenpol, Kevin (Kristin) Schamens; grandchildren: Brooklyn, Spencer, Zachary and Samuel Schamens, Hailey (Calvin) Jirschele, Callan Pietenpol, Preston Schamens, step-grandchildren Lauren and Mason Gauthier; great grandchildren: Ada, Stella and Wade Jirschele; brother, Tim (Jane) Skogen; sister, Vicki (Ken) Steh; and dear friend, Roxanne Lemieux.
