Claire F. Round died on Friday, September 30, 2022 at the age of 91, at Sharehaven. Claire was born in Brooklyn, New York to parents Katherine (Schneider) and Joseph Friedman, following the birth of her brother, Dr. Manfred Friedman. The family relocated briefly to Fort Lauderdale, Florida where Claire’s younger sister, Naomi (Friedman) Ginsburg, was born and then moved to Baltimore in 1942.
Claire attended Townson State University where she was awarded her Elementary Teaching Certificate. She taught in elementary in Baltimore until marrying her husband, Dr. Harold Round on November 6, 1930, in New York, New York and together they had two children.
Claire loved to dance with the Spice Girls at the Senior Center. She would golf, play tournament bridge, biked, and maintained a beautiful garden at her home. She volunteered at the Paine Art Center and the Oshkosh Area Humane Society. She was devoted to the many cats she adopted and took meticulous care of them.
Harold and Claire were long-time members of Congregation B’nai Israel with each contributing their talents to the Synagogue and Sunday school. Harold was Congregation President and Claire taught Sunday school.
Claire is survived by her sister, Naomi Ginsberg, her niece, Martha Del Nido, nephew, Walter Friedman, and their respective families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dr. Harold Round, her children, Alfred and Alice and her brother Dr. Manfred Friedman.
A graveside service will be held at Lake View Memorial Park on Friday, October 7, 2022 at 12:30 PM conducted by Religious Leader, Lowell Lewis.
Claire’s family would like to thank Dr. Ammar Alzoubi for his kind and compassionate care throughout the years. Also, they would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of Moments Hospice, and Sharehaven, especially Rebecca Savka, for taking such wonderful care of Claire during her final days.
In lieu of flowers memorials to the Oshkosh Area Humane Society or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
