Clarence A Schnell

September 16, 1923 — June 15, 2012

Clarence A. Schnell, 88, of the Town of Black Wolf, passed away at home Friday, June 15, 2012. He was born September 16, 1923 in Oshkosh the son of the late Herman and Anna (Dreyer) Schnell. Clarence graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1941 and credits his favorite agriculture teacher for his life long love of farming. Clarence devoted his entire life to farming. His love of the land and farming continued until the age of 85. Clarence was a certified seed dealer, an accomplished dairy farmer, and belonged to many agricultural organizations, including the Farm Bureau and the Crop Improvement Association. He hosted FFA High School events at his farm and was an Agriland Instructor at Oshkosh High School in an effort to teach younger generations about farming. Clarence was a former member of Peace Lutheran Church and currently attended St. Johns Lutheran Church, Town of Nekimi. Clarence married Yvonne Moede on Nov. 29, 1986 and she preceded him in death on Nov. 26, 2006. He then married Debra Erickson on March 8, 2008. Clarence is survived by his wife, Debra; his cousins, Elaine Josephson of Oshkosh and Lois Abitz of Fond du Lac; a special godson, Dewey Josephson of Oshkosh; brothers-in-law, Edward (Luigia) Ziel of Phelps, WI, John Ziel of New Holstein, WI, Thomas (Cindy) Ziel of the Virgin Islands, and Steven (Sheryl) Ziel of Tennessee; and sisters-in-law, Becky Tynan and Kim Hyatt both of Tennessee, and Julie Bucio of Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, a sister Mildred Schnell, and brothers-in-law, Larry Ziel and Wayne Hyatt. A funeral service for Clarence will be held Tuesday June 19, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Westside, Rev. Ken Schlueter officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until the service. Burial will be in Peace Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established. Clarence was especially devoted to his family and friends. He was a very kind and gentle man and will always be remembered for the many, many lives he touched.
