My little “Punkin”, Craig Van Airsdale, died on September 12, 2018 after a long battle with addiction. He was 42. His brother Brian Van Airsdale, whom he loved and missed dearly, died of an overdose Nov. 14, 2007. They were very close and Craig never got over losing him. May they both be in heaven giggling, hunting, and fishing. Craig is survived by his daughter, Brionna Borntreger whom he loved with every bone in his body. She was his everything! He was so proud of his daughter and loved watching her in all her sporting events. The two loved playing video games, watching movies and giggling.
Craig is also survived by his uncle Paul Van Airsdale. Paul was Craig’s uncle, dad and friend. They laughed, hunted, fished and had a very special bond. Paul was there for both Brian and Craig when their dad passed away. Craig was loved and in love with his girlfriend of many years, Loretta Sharpless. She helped Craig smile and enjoy life. Craig also had many loving and supportive friends and family, too many to write. You all were very near and dear to his heart!
In addition to his brother, Craig was preceded in death by his father, Robert Van Airsdale; grandfathers, Robert Van Airsdale, Robert Hansen, “Jug” John Murphy; grandmothers, Nancy Van Airsdale and Mickey Olsen; Uncle Pat Van Airsdale and Uncle Sam Lepinski.
Craig was raised by his “dad” James “Murph” Murphy. They loved talking about and watching sports. Craig loved to golf and go to the Brewer games with Murph. Murph loved Craig and wanted nothing more than happiness for him. Craig loved and respected Murph. Craig had one friend he spent most of his life with. Patrick Kennedy was his “brother”. They trout fished, shot darts and did a lot together.
A service for Craig will be held at 6:30PM on Wednesday September 19, 2018 at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Homes Westside (100 Lake Pointe Dr). Deacon John Ingala will be officiating. A visitation will be held from 3:30PM until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Weyauwega Elementary School in Craig’s and Brionna’s name.
