Darrell B. Kroll

Darrell B. Kroll died May 22, 2013 at Bethel Home due to complications from Parkinsons disease. Darrell was born June 11, 1923 in Dancy, WI, son of the late Fred and Flora (Komes) Kroll. He enlisted in the army in December 1942 and was honorably discharged April 1946. He attended the University of Wyoming and U.W. Madison. He married Berdine Brockhaus on May 27, 1950 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wausau WI. He was operations manager at the Radford Co., where he worked for 32 years.Darrell was an active member of the former Redeemer Lutheran Church, serving on church council, Sunday school instructor of the confirmands, and chairman of the building committee. He also served on the Ad hoc committee for Lutheran Homes of Oshkosh. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, camping, traveling, and spending time at their lake property in Manitowish Waters. He especially enjoyed spending time with family including attending school and sports activities of his grandchildren. He cherished the many friends made while camping in Wisconsin, Texas, and Arizona.Darrell is survived by his wife of nearly 63 years, Berdine of Oshkosh; a son, Gary (Jean) Kroll of Sun Prairie; a daughter, Kaye (Dave) Wood of Ripon; grandchildren, Andrea (Wesley) Statz, Alex (special friend, Jessica), Teresa and Travis; step-grandchildren, Sarah (Dave) Oberneder and Anne Honor; two great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Ethel Kroll; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Byron, and sisters, Melva Pregont and Bernice Lemke.Funeral services for Darrell will be held Saturday May 25, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Oshkosh, Rev. Kelly Leary officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the service. Inurnment will be in Lake View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials are being established to the Trinity Lutheran Church and the Wisconsin Parkinson Association.Darrells family extends a special thank you to the caring staff at Bethel Home-One West.
