David Albert Schmitt

David A. Schmitt, 72, of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully from cancer at his home on Friday, December 7, 2007. David was born on October 14, 1935 in Oshkosh to Alvin and Irma Schmitt. He attended Milwaukee School of Engineering and worked for Medalist Industries, Wisconsin Automated Machine for many years. David was a member of St. Pauls United Church of Christ, where he served on the church council as church president and belonged to the church Mens Club. Dave was active in the Winnebago Council of Camp Fire as board member and council president. He received Camp Fires highest award, the Luther Gulick Award. Remembering him with special love is his wife, Mary (Becker) Schmitt; his three daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa (Jim) Sprung of Ocala, FL, Amy (Kevin) Huff of Middleton, WI and Kristin (Bob) Schafer of Oshkosh; his seven grandchildren, the pride and joy of his life, Curtis and Elijah Sprung, Caitlyn and Alyssa Schafer, Amanda, Tyler, and Parker Huff. He is further survived by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Ellen Becker of Oshkosh, Martha (Dale) Albers and their son, John of Sherwood, WI, and John (Betty) Becker and their family of Oshkosh.A memorial service and celebration of Daves life will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2007 at Noon at St. Pauls United Church of Christ (1250 Leonards Point Rd). Family and friends may visit from 10:00 AM to the time of service on Thursday at the church. Following the service a light lunch and time of remembrance and fellowship will be held.In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for St. Pauls United Church of Christ.
