David John Schroeder

David J. Schroeder, age 79, of Oshkosh, died Wednesday August 15, 2012, at his residence, as a result of congestive heart failure and cancer. He was born June 8, 1933, in Oshkosh, a son of the late Henry and Elsie (Reichenberger) Schroeder. On June 13, 1953 he married Elaine Post in England. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic School through ninth grade and then attended Oshkosh High School. He enlisted and served during the Korean War in the United States Air Force. He was employed by Cook-Brown as a truck driver and then a dispatcher. He remained there when the company was purchased by MMC Inc and then retired in 1994. He was a member of St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Parish. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood carving-some of which received national attention-, and spending time at the cabin. He is survived by his childhood sweetheart and wife of 59 years Elaine, two sons, Mike (Fiancee Pam) Schroeder, Eric (Cindy) Schroeder; one daughter, Rose (Ken) Dill; five grandchildren, Chris (Kelly) Rehm, Matt (Heidi) Schroeder, Josh (Kim) Schroeder, Terrance Schroeder, and Ashley Schroeder; two great-grandchildren, Sam Rehm, Samantha Schroeder, one great-granddaughter on the way Jaida Schroeder; one brother, Henry (Shirley) Schroeder; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service for David will be held on Friday August 17, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Westside with Fr. Bill Van De Kreeke officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday at the Lake Pointe Dr. funeral home from 4 p.m. until the time of the service. A memorial in Davids memory is being established. Davids family would like to thank the staff at Affinity Hospice and Mercy Medical Center and also Drs. Gremminger, Murphy, Al-bitar, and Boccheciamp for all the wonderful care given. David always tried to keep his sense of humor-so smile and say Ta-Ta.
