David Lee Halsey, age 86, passed away on Monday, June 28, 2021, at Bethel Home in Oshkosh. He was born in Oshkosh on February 3, 1935, to the late Leorn and Marian (Ryan) Halsey. David married Marlene Rothe on September 24, 1960, until she preceded him in death on September 19, 2012.
David served in the Korean War in the Army Airborne Unit. David and Marlene were members of the Oshkosh Elks Club. They enjoyed 30 years at Pearl Lake Campground with many family members and friends. David loved to spend time hunting and fishing with his son. David was self-employed for over 40 years in the roofing and siding industry and worked at the Universal Foundry for many years. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
David is survived by his children: Barry (Dawn) Halsey, Brenda Halsey (Mark), Barbie (Bob) Krause; two grandchildren: Jamie (Travis) Smithlin, David Halsey; four great grandchildren: Alyssah, Abagail, Avah, and Addilyn Smithlin; and three siblings: Richard (Betty) Morgan, James Morgan, and Marlene Klinger.
A memorial service for David will be at 1:00 pm on Thursday, July 8, 2021, at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home, 100 Lake Pointe Drive, Oshkosh. Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Thursday from 12:00 pm until the time of service. Burial will take place immediately following the service at Riverside Cemetery with full military honors.
